″I always think that people have something more to give…″

Statements by the FC Porto coach to UEFA magazine, before the match against Inter Milan, scheduled for this Wednesday (20:00), and referring to the first leg of the Champions League round of 16

Sérgio Conceição spoke to UEFA before the European clash with Inter Milan, scheduled for this Wednesday and referring to the round of 16 of the Champions League. The current coach of FC Porto pulled the strings and recalled the victory of the blue and whites in Milan, in 1996, where he was in the starting line-up.

“I remember being very happy, from the outset the motivation of facing one of the best teams in the world, then playing in the biggest club competition in the world, was extraordinary. At the beginning there is always a normal nervousness, the adrenaline, in every players, it’s normal, and facing probably the best left back ever, Maldini. It was a full game at all levels against a team with some of the best stars in the world, it was a huge victory”, he explained.

Admitting that he deals badly with defeats, the Porto coach explained the passion he has for his profession.

“I live very badly with defeats and I live very little with victories, first with myself, I always think that people have something more to give, many times they are not properly chopped for that to happen. But I feel every moment of the team and whenever we score is that if it were me scoring, or a member of the technical team, I live very passionately every moment of the game, training, my day to day at the club”, he concluded.

“When it’s time for the game, I completely forget where I come from, what my background is. It’s total focus on the task for the game, me as a coach and the players as players, to achieve success regardless of the opponent”, he added.
