Manchester –
Manchester City will meet with RB Leipzig Of Liga Champions the middle of this week. The Citizens had bad memories at the Die Roten Bullen headquarters last season.
Manchester City will travel to the Red Bull Arena to face RB Leipzig in the first leg of the last 16 of the Champions League, Thursday (23/2). Leipzig will be a test for The Citizens who are hunting for their Champions League title.
The two teams themselves already know each other’s strengths. The reason is, Man City was in the same group as Leipzig in the Champions League last season.
They beat each other in two meetings last season. Man City won 6-3 at the Etihad. However, when they visited the Red Bull Arena, Manchester Blue lost 1-2.
Two of Leipzig’s goals at that time were made by Dominik Szoboszlai and Andre Silva. Man City could only reply through Riyad Mahrez.
The defeat last season was clearly a sign for Man City to be wary of Leipzig. Moreover, Die Roten Bullen also have a good record at home. They have only lost once at home in the last 15 matches.
Man City goalkeeper, Ederson Moraes, understands very well that Leipzig is not an easy opponent for his team, reflecting on last season’s meeting. This will actually be a motivation for Man City to achieve good results at home to RB Leipzig.
Victory in the first leg will mean a lot to Man City as capital for the second leg. The second leg will be held on March 15 at the Etihad Stadium.
“Last season we played against them in the group stage. They are a good team with good players, so we have to be ready. I hope we can do well, but it won’t be easy because the Champions League doesn’t have easy matches. I expect challenge, and I hope we will be able to play well and get a good result in the first leg and continue after that,” said Ederson as quoted from the UEFA website.
