HAMBURG (dpa-AFX) – On Monday (10:00 a.m.) Port of Hamburg Marketing presented figures on handling and traffic development in the Port of Hamburg in 2022. In essence, it is likely to be about the effects of the Russian attack on Ukraine and the corona pandemic on business in Germany’s largest port. In 2021, after the corona-related slump in 2020, seaborne cargo throughput rose by around two percent to 128.7 million tons. Container throughput climbed 2.2 percent to 8.7 million standard containers (TEU). The Hamburg port railway reached an all-time high in 2021 with a transport volume of 48.5 million tons and an increase of four percent.
