70.4% of the Public Agree Prabowo to Join the Jokowi-Ma’ruf Government

Jakarta

The Indonesian Survey and Polling Institute (SPIN) said that the majority of respondents agreed with the attitude of the Chairman of Gerindra Prabowo Subianto who entered the administration of the President Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin. At least 70.4% agree with that.

“Most of the public or 70.4% agree with Prabowo’s attitude in joining the Jokowi-Maruf government. This percentage figure is very convincing and surprising considering the issues and analysis developed by various parties that the majority of Prabowo’s 2019 voters will reject this attitude,” said the Director SPIN Igor Dirgantara in his statement, Sunday (19/2/2023).

According to SPIN, Jokowi’s voters have a tendency to appreciate Prabowo’s attitude in joining the government. Meanwhile, only about 10.8 percent of the public disagreed with Prabowo joining Jokowi’s government.

“There is only 10.8% of the public who disagree with Prabowo joining the Jokowi-Maruf government,” he said.

As many as 35.4% of the total population were Jokowi-Maruf voters in the 2019 presidential election who agreed with Prabowo’s stance on joining the Jokowi-Maruf government cabinet. Meanwhile, 26.1 percent of Prabowo-Sandi voters agreed.

“Only a small proportion of Jokowi-Maruf voters and Prabowo-Sandi voters expressed disapproval. It can be seen that both Jokowi-Maruf voters and Prabowo voters are very accepting of Prabowo’s stance, especially given Prabowo’s performance in the most successful cabinet,” said Igor.

“Evidence that Prabowo is the middle way, a unifying figure can be seen from the tendency of this survey finding,” he continued.

Meanwhile, this survey was conducted during the period 3-13 February 2023 and was attended by 1,230 respondents. The survey method was carried out using multistage random sampling with a margin of error of approximately 95 percent.

Data collection techniques were carried out by direct interviews using questionnaires. The sample is spread proportionally in 34 provinces throughout Indonesia.
