According to information to Reuters so the Chinese technology giant Tencent has now dropped its virtual reality plans.
Difficulty in turning a profit quickly enough, the amount of investment that would be needed to produce a competitive VR headset, and the lack of attractive enough games and software are said to be several reasons why the company chose to save on the venture.
Tencent is said to have successfully developed the concept for a ring-like controller but did not expect the product to turn a profit until 2027.
The staff and resources that worked with virtual reality will now instead be redirected to other projects at the company.
