Peskov: The American statements regarding Crimea as a legitimate target for Kiev highlight the depth of the dispute between America and Russia
Today, Sunday, the Kremlin considered the United States a “main instigator” of fueling international tension for condoning attacks on Crimea, noting that the statements issued by it on the peninsula highlight the depth of the dispute between the two countries.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov’s comments came in response to comments made by Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland, in which she said that the United States believes that Crimea, which Russia annexed from Ukraine in 2014, should be demilitarized, and that Washington supports Ukrainian attacks on Ukraine. military targets therein.
Peskov said in statements reported by Russian media: “Noland belongs to a large camp that includes the most hostile” hawks “of American policies. This is a point of view that we know well.”
Peskov considered that Nuland’s statements confirm the depth of the dispute between America and Russia. Peskov added that the Kremlin considers that Nuland’s statements about considering Crimea a legitimate military target “reveal Washington’s main role in raising global tensions.”
Nuland had announced that the United States supports Ukrainian strikes against Russian military facilities in Crimea.
“These are legitimate targets. Ukraine attacks them and we support them,” Nuland said, referring to Russian military facilities in Crimea.
