More and more employees face the fear of being fired. This also has a name given by the specialists who treat it in the office. It’s called “dismissal anxiety.” This fear gives employees headaches, literally. Fear increases their stress levels and affects their health. At the same time, out of a desire to get rid of this fear, most people consider leaving the job they have and look for other opportunities. In the end, it’s a vicious circle for employees and employers.

-I think that in each of us there is this insecurity and looking at what is happening around, you don’t want to feel this fear, even if the employer would not give you reasons to feel this.
– Yes, sometimes I think that maybe we all need to be replaced and, of course, I am afraid at certain moments that I will lose my job, but I am optimistic that I will find something else.
76% of Romanians fear that they could lose their job, according to a recent Ipsos study. Specialists call the fear of becoming unemployed as layoff anxiety.
Matei Stănculescu – psychologist: I think somewhere around 70% of my clients experience this anxiety and it manifests itself in two big and broad types of behavior: 1, people who are already looking for another job and so are demotivated by absolutely everything they are doing today and 2, people who want to demonstrate excessively, who swallow everything that is asked of them and who, in this way, neglect their personal life, end up with insomnia, are on the highway to burnout, have eating problems and so on.
These fears are not always justified, say labor market specialists.
Bogdan Badea – HR specialist: It is hard to deny that a man who has seen 10, 20, 30, 50, 100 of his colleagues leave in the last month can calm down and stay there without even the slightest doubt that it might be he among those who will be fired in the next wave. In the second case, when we talk about people who have only fears, only anxieties that they will be fired, no firing happened in their company, probably the main reason is the news area, the area of signals coming mostly from America.
In Romania, the unemployment rate remains low. In December last year it was 5.6%.
