Surabaya, CLICKMU.CO – Muhammadiyah 21 Elementary School Surabaya (Mudatu) together with the Wonokusumo Health Center held measles & rubella immunization at SD Muhammadiyah 21 yard, Friday (17/2/2023).
This immunization activity is a series of BIAS (School Child Immunization Month). BIAS itself is an activity of administering vaccines as protection to elementary school-age children (SD). BIAS vaccine administration is booster (repeat) against immunity that was acquired in infancy, when school-age children’s immunity has begun to decline.
One of the Wonokusumo Health Center workers, Lian Umayanti AmdKep, said that the purpose of this immunization is to break the chain of transmission of the measles & rubella virus transmission in children aged 9 months to less than 15 years.
“With this immunization, it is hoped that it can provide immunity and body protection against the measles & rubella virus which can have quite a fatal impact on our health,” he added.
On the other hand, various responses emerged among students who took immunizations. Some claimed to be happy, scared, and even cried for fear of being injected. One grade 5 student, Abid Tsaqiful Ilmi, said he was happy with the immunization activity.
“It’s great, it doesn’t hurt either. But seeing other children crying, it’s very funny,” he said, then laughed. (Devi Falachiyah/AS)
