In turn, the head of the “Free Patriotic Movement”, Gibraneb Bassil, saw that “a person like Riad Salameh will be held accountable, and if a person like him is not held accountable, the country will not rise.”
And Basil added, “Instead of the West making it easy for those who want a state and reform to hurl their way to Salameh, and instead of the West hurried to us with reform to stop its support for Salameh.”
He said, “No one threatens us with chaos, sanctions, or emptiness. We choose the president of the republic with our conviction, and no one imposes it on us. We refuse to elect a president on the back of chaos, like a president on the back of an Israeli tank.”
