Dementia is defined as a syndrome characterized by a decline in memory, thinking, behaviour, language and the ability to carry out daily activities.
Frontotemporal dementia (FTD), which affects famous Hollywood actor Bruce Willis, is one of the least common forms of dementia, accounting for only 2% of diagnoses. Alzheimer’s disease is the most prevalent type in the world.
Here we will mention some strange early symptoms that may not come to mind that may indicate infection with this incurable disease:
Donate money
Distributing money to strangers may be an early warning sign of Alzheimer’s disease, according to research from the University of Southern California and Bar-Ilan University in Israel, which linked financial altruism to the early stages of the disease.
The results, published in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease, indicated that those who were at higher risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease were also more willing to hand out money to a person they had not met before.
For his part, said Dr. Duke Hahn, professor of neuropsychology at the University of Southern California who led the research: “It is believed that the problem of dealing with money is one of the early signs of Alzheimer’s disease.”

Inclination to humor and comedy
Starting to watch slapstick classics like Mr Bean could be another sign of Alzheimer’s disease.
Researchers at University College London found that people who fell ill were more likely to enjoy watching satirical comedies than other people of the same age.
According to a study published in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease in 2015, people with the disease begin to prefer slapstick jokes nine years before typical dementia symptoms begin.

It also found that people with FTD were more likely to find tragic events funny, or to laugh at things others didn’t find funny.
The researchers say that these changes in humor could be caused by the brain shrinking in the frontal lobes.
sloppy clothes
Wearing loose, ill-fitting, and mismatched clothing may be another sign of Alzheimer’s disease.
Researchers describe people with dementia who are less able to dress on their own. They need encouragement and help, so they tend to stay in untidy clothes and in poor condition.

Bad driving
Memory loss can make an Alzheimer’s patient bad at driving.
This disease may affect motor skills, memory and thought processes, making them react slow and bad when driving cars, and making sudden changes in the road.

Insults and obscene words
Uttering insults in inappropriate situations may be another warning sign of illness.
Researchers from the University of California, Los Angeles, found that people with FTD are more likely to use profanity.
inappropriate behaviours
According to experts, being naked in public and speaking boldly to strangers are all signs of the disease.
The prefrontal cortex in the frontal lobes of the brain is the part that controls our behavior control but when you have Alzheimer’s disease, this part of the brain shrinks.
For its part, the Alzheimer’s Society said: “These situations can be very confusing, upsetting, traumatic or frustrating for the person with dementia, as well as for those close to them. The person with dementia may not understand why their behavior is considered inappropriate.”
