Merdeka.com – There are several asteroids approaching Earth every week. However, not all asteroids are harmful to Earth.
The United States Space Agency or NASA categorizes asteroids as dangerous if they are 8 million kilometers from Earth.
Recently, NASA revealed that there are six asteroids that pass Earth at a very close distance. Now, NASA has also revealed that there are other asteroids approaching Earth, quoted from the Hindustan Times page, Saturday (18/2).
NASA issued a warning regarding this asteroid approaching Earth, with the name Asteroid 2023 CY1. The size of this asteroid is between 50 feet and 111 feet. This asteroid is very close to Earth on February 17, about 1.7 million kilometers.
According to NASA, this asteroid slides towards Earth at a very high speed, 23,967 kilometers per hour.
Asteroid 2023 CY1 belongs to the Apollo asteroid group, a Near-Earth asteroid whose name is taken from the Apollo 1862 asteroid which was discovered by German astronomer Karl Reinmuth in the 1930s.
