With Nikki Haley emerging as the first opponent in the primary for former President Donald Trump, the competition in the Republican Party is certain. The accusations against him are getting stronger as it has been hinted that President Joe Biden will also seek approval for the continued administration.
This was preceded by 70-year-old Florida Republican Senator Rick Scott calling 80-year-old President Joe Biden ‘sick’ and ‘incapacitated and confused’ due to age. Scott was a guest on conservative pundit Hugh Hewitt’s radio show. Notably, Scott called the Democratic president a ‘troublemaker’ and repeatedly called for his resignation.
Scott has been at war with Biden for more than a week, after the president used a policy proposal made by the Florida senator during the 2022 campaign. During his State of the Union address, Biden borrowed Scott’s policy to confront the Republican Congress. With this, Scott was coming against the president.
‘I mean, I live in Florida and there are a lot of very talented 80-year-olds. Biden is not like them. I mean he is not healthy. Can’t even communicate well.’ – Scott said of Biden. ‘Let’s be honest here. Joe Biden is not feeling well. He is unfit for office. He’s a confused incompetent.- scoffs Scott.

Biden took aim at Scott’s proposal, while serving as head of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, that all federal legislation expire after five years. All federal legislation expires in five years. Scott’s suggestion was that Congress could re-pass the law if it needed to continue. Democrats argued that it would harm major social programs, including Social Security and Medicare.
Several Republicans, including Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, have come out against Scott’s plan ahead of the November midterms. Scott suggested that it would be foolish to interpret his proposal in that way. In addition, legislation was introduced on Friday to increase funding for Social Security and Medicare.
The Florida Republican lashed out at Biden on the same day the 80-year-old president visited Walter Reed for an annual check-up. Biden came to the physical months late. Scott interprets this as being afraid. Biden’s age and health will likely be a key election issue as he enters the 2024 presidential campaign.
Republican Nikki Haley – who announced her White House bid on Tuesday – said in a campaign speech in Charleston on Wednesday that she wants politicians over the age of 75 to undergo mental competency testing. The same goes for 76-year-old former President Donald Trump. Trump announced his 2024 presidential bid in mid-November.
