The president of the Provincial Council of Cádiz, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, and the mayor of San José del Valle, Antonio González Carretero, have participated this afternoon in the acts of inauguration of the Municipal Auditorium of the town.
The facility, whose construction has involved an investment of 1.5 million euros, is located in the Plaza de Andalucía, in the heart of the municipality and, as Ruiz Boix has expressed, it becomes a “new space, a new point of social, cultural and neighborhood meeting”, which «responds to a need that San José del Valle had, where a large-capacity space was demanded, which could host events of various kinds and serve to boost cultural and, therefore, economic, commercial and tourist activity in the municipality.
The Municipal Auditorium has been built on a plot of more than 1,200 square meters. In the place was the old kindergarten of the town, a building that was in disuse. The project, drawn up by the architect Manuel de la Rocha, has respected and maintained the façade of the old educational center, which now serves as the main entrance. The equipment, which occupies the entire blockis developed mainly on one floor, with a central body where the assembly hall is located, to which other units are attached, such as lobbies, cafeterias and toilets.
The necessary investment for its execution has been provided by the City Council with its own funds, although it has had financial support from the Provincial Council for the acquisition of the public address equipment and the audiovisual projection system through a registered grant for the amount of 120,000 euros.
In the almost four years elapsed in this corporate mandate, the provincial administration has invested more than 5.3 million euros in San José del Valle. A fact that, in the words of the president, “demonstrates that the Diputación wants to be in San José del Valle, with the neighbors of the small towns”, so that “they have the same opportunities and services as the big cities”. This investment has served to generate more than 160 contracts, recalled Ruiz Boix, «even without having direct competences in employment; carry out necessary works such as those of the municipal cemetery, the swimming pool, the dome of the church, the sidewalks in various streets, the replacement of public lighting. In short, a multitude of actions requested and proposed by the City Council, that is, they respond to neighborhood demands and show that the Provincial Council fulfills its role of supporting the development of the smallest municipalities in the province.
The Municipal Auditorium of San José del Valle has a capacity for 600 people and is multifunctional, with the intention of hosting events of various kinds. In this sense, the mayor has expressed that the construction of this building represents the “pride of an entire town.” In his words, the equipment «has all the proper characteristics to be one more resource of culture at the service of our neighbors and that is added to everything we have been doing in a municipality like ours, which deserves infrastructures like this one”, González Carretero assured.
In addition to the official opening ceremony held this Thursday, the City Council and the Provincial Council are collaborating in the organization of a program of performances that will last until next Saturday. The poster for this Friday, February 17, is made up of Juan Luis Pineda, Juanma Sánchez & friends, ‘Come over here’ and ‘Pure sound’. On Saturday the 18th they will perform ‘A Paterna por lanes’ and ‘Torre de cera’. Both sessions begin at 8:00 p.m.
