The vaccination point without an appointment to receive both the Covid and the flu vaccine, which opened in the Specialties Center on January 23, both in the morning and in the afternoon, will remain operational until the end of this month, and depending on of the demand and the evolution of immunization it will be decided if it remains open but with fewer days a week or if it closes. This was announced yesterday by the director of Nursing of the GAI of Albacete, Juan David Fernández, who indicated that at this time 766 doses of the anti-Covid vaccine and 293 against the flu have been administered in this resource without the need for a prior appointment. In that same period, in all the health centers and clinics of the Albacete GAI, 3,589 vaccines have been administered, yes, by appointment, at an average of 1,200 per week.
Fernández assured that it is precisely the Primary schools where the majority continue to inject serums against Covid and also anti-flu.
In this way, and despite the fact that in recent weeks the administration of booster doses has been slowed down again to mitigate a possible coronavirus infection with sera that are already adapted to the new variants, the reality is that since this process began of inoculation more than two years ago, a total of 666,386 Covid vaccines have been put in the GAI of Albacete.
Of these, 47,317 are second booster doses (fourth vaccine), which 78% of those over 80 years of age have; 65% of the segment between 70 and 79 years; 42% of the population between 60 and 69 years; Only 10% of Albacete people between the ages of 50 and 59 already have the fourth serum against Covid, and people who received this injection are practically testimonial, one percent, under 50 years of age.
On the other hand, throughout the Integrated Care Management of Albacete, 64,650 vaccines have already been injected to prevent influenza infection, of which 46,317 have reached people over 60 years of age, where a percentage of coverage has been reached (vaccines offered, administered and rejected) of 75.45%, with a vaccination coverage of 67.01%, which translates into 46,906 serum administrations; a figure to which is added another 15,420 flu injections to the population between 14 and 59 years of age and 2,324 more units to under 14 years of age, who are also included in the risk groups, due to their different pathologies.
