Kyiv| A Ukrainian court has sentenced a Russian journalist to five years in prison for calling for the drowning of Ukrainian children. Anton Krasovsky, a pro-war TV presenter, was sentenced by the court. Journalist Krasovsky is on the run.
Ukrainian authorities said the TV host was found guilty of calling for genocide and advocating the overthrow of Ukraine’s constitutional system. Krasowski’s controversial statement was in October.
Krasovsky said that the children of Ukraine, who see the Russians as invaders, should be thrown directly into the raging river. Krasowski later apologized for the incident, but was suspended for his controversial remarks.
Krasovsky has publicly supported the Russian invasion of Ukraine since last February. He condoned the crimes committed by the racists and called for the genocide of the Ukrainian people. The accused is now absconding abroad. Security forces of Ukraine have stated that although security forces know his whereabouts, several procedures must be followed to bring him to justice.
At the same time, the security forces did not specify which court sentenced Krasowski or when the sentence was announced.
