Acting (Plt) Chairman of the United Development Party (PPP) M Mardiono said that the figure of the 2024 vice presidential candidate (cawapres) is beside the President Joko Widodo.
Mardiono conveyed this after several cadres shouted his name as vice presidential candidate. He asked cadres to stop doing that because the cawapres figure sat on Jokowi’s right and left.
“These vice-presidential candidates are sitting on either side of the President and here is a signal that is getting stronger, so be careful,” said Mardiono at the commemoration of PPP’s 50th birthday at ICE BSD, South Tangerang, Friday (17/2).
In that event, the chair next to Jokowi was occupied by PPP officials. In addition, there were several ministers and party officials present.
Several figures sitting in line with Jokowi are the Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto, Minister of BUMN Erick Thohir, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno, and Minister of State Secretary Pratikno.
There are also political party figures, such as Democratic Party chairman Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, DPP chairman Djarot Syaiful Hidayat, and PAN Secretary General Eddy Soeparno.
On that occasion, Jokowi said there were a number of presidential and vice presidential candidates present. He also mentioned their names one by one.
“What I know is Pak Prabowo, what I know is Pak Erick Thohir, what I know is Sandiaga Uno, and what I know is Pak Mahfud MD,” Jokowi said.
“I almost forgot that there was also Mas AHY (Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono),” he said.
