ANDRITZ: First FibreFlow pulping drum in Australia

ANDRITZ is supplying a FibreFlow pulping drum with a maximum capacity of 1,400 tons per day, various fiber cleaning equipment, and a spray water treatment system for the production of various types of board.

“The pulping drum is the first of its kind in Australia,” says Jean Yves Nouaze, Executive General Manager Pulp & Paper, Visy. “This modernization will increase our processing capacity by another 95,000 tons of recovered paper per year. New products are made from the recovered paper here in Victoria. We thank ANDRITZ for collaborating with Visy on this crucial project.”

Peter Clewes, Vice President Fiber of the ANDRITZ Paper, Fiber and Recycling Division adds: “I am very pleased that our first FibreFlow pulping drum pulping system for Australia is part of an investment aimed at further improving Australia’s waste and recycling infrastructure to strengthen.”

The innovative ANDRITZ pulping system enables Visy Paper to process a special, challenging raw material mix consisting of household recovered paper and Australian OCC (Old Corrugated Containers) with a reject content of up to 25%. The project includes the following technological highlights:

  • FibreFlow pulping drum with a longer and stronger design to gently pulp the challenging mix of raw materials and efficiently remove the coarse contaminants with minimal fiber loss.
  • more innovative PrimeScreen X for spray water treatment.
  • New RB450 Cleaner for highly effective removal of glass fragments.

Visy Paper Mill in Coolaroo is part of the Visy Group – a global leader in packaging and resource recovery – and produces plasterboard for the abdominal industry and white and brown liner grades from 100% recycled material.
