The Wuling Alvez SUV was officially launched in Indonesia at the 2023 Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS). Fighting with the big name Honda HR-V, Alvez is priced very affordable, starting at IDR 200 million. Why can Alvez’s price be reduced to that cheap?
To note, Wuling Alvez is marketed in 3 variants, namely SE, CE and EX. Available in a choice of tungsten grey, pristine white, aurora silver, starry black and carnelian red.
The following is a price list for Wuling Alvez in Indonesia:
– Wuling Alvez SE M/T Rp 209,000,000
– Wuling Alvez CE CVT IDR 255,000,000
– Wuling Alvez EX CVT IDR 295,000,000
According to Wuling Motors Brand & Marketing Director, Dian Asmahani, Alvez’s price, which is much cheaper than its competitors, is a form of Wuling’s innovation. Of course, this price setting has gone through studies and research.
“Why is it like that? What is clear is that we have done research and we have done a lot of innovation, so that we can produce a product at a price that we think is the best in that segment. Because we are indeed playing in the same segment as the HR-V, (but) at a price extraordinary,” said Dian at the JIExpo arena, Kemayoran, Jakarta, Friday (17/2/2023).
Meanwhile, when talking about local content, currently Alvez only has one local content by 40%. But going forward, the local content will continue to be improved.
“For local components, we are at 40% and for sure — because this is still new — we certainly hope that the market will increase and production capacity will also increase and we want to local contentthere will also be more in the future,” said Dian.
For information, Alvez means ‘All At Once’ in English which symbolizes a combination of stylish exterior design, modern interior, and innovative driving technology in one SUV product. In line with this, Wuling also pinned the tagline ‘Style & Innovation in One SUV’ to Alvez.
Wuling Avez is equipped with a naturally aspirated, inline-4 cylinder, DVVT, DOHC petrol engine with a capacity of 1485 cc which on paper can spit out power of 105 hp at 5,800 rpm and torque of 143 Nm at 4,000-4,600 rpm. This machine already carries EURO 4 with CVT automatic transmission options and 6-speed manual.
