That science has advanced in recent years is unquestionable. However, sometimes things happen in a fortuitous and unexpected way in the course of an investigation, and thanks to them, unexpected results are also obtained.
This is precisely what has happened to the pathologist Bing Li of the University of Louisville (USA). The immunologist and his colleagues discovered the possible association between the consumption by one food and baldness, and apparently the results are amazing.

A study establishes a possible new cause of baldness
Surely it will have happened to you sometime. You are focused on something in particular and, without wanting it or drinking it, the situation turns and makes you change course. Well, sometimes these changes lead to new discoveries.

And in the field of science and research they know it better than anyone. In fact, Bing Li and his team of scientists were working on a line of research that, a priori, would have nothing to do with baldness.
After considering several hypotheses, in which work was carried out with mice, the researchers discovered something that caught their attention: there was a consignment of mice that were bald.
This obviously prompted the immunologist and his entire team to change the direction of the investigation, as they wanted to know what was going on. However, the surprise came later, when they saw that there was a food who seemed to be key in all this.
Originally, Li and his team were investigating the causal relationship between the different types of fat and the growth of certain tumors. To establish the hypotheses, the rodents had to be fed with a certain diet.
As the objective was to observe the impact that the fat produced in these animals, the researchers offered the mice foods rich in it. Of course, not all were feeding with the same type of fat.

While some received doses of vegetable oil or low in fatothers presented a feeding containing high levels of oil fish y omega-3. And be careful, because apparently the latter food led them to the discovery that we will show you next.
The food that is in the spotlight
After comparing all the mice, the researchers realized that those that were being fed oil of fish they lost a considerable amount of hair. In fact, the most affected area was the shoulders, while the rest of the mice did not seem to suffer the same effect.
As it was an unexpected fact, the researchers decided to verify this result up to two times. To do this, they proceeded to carry out more experiments with other mice, and thus be able to compare the effects again.
However, Li was unable to find scientific literature showing any relationship to the phenomenon he was observing, so he decided to investigate on his own. Thanks to this, the team managed to establish a new connection.
Apparently, the intake of oil supplements fish and omega-3 could be associated with baldness. Remember that this condition (technically known as androgenic alopecia) is very common in the population.
Although it is a natural and hereditary process, it can affect both men and women. Of course, the incidence is higher in the first group, especially when the person is over 35 years of age.

To alleviate these effects, supplements such as those mentioned above are currently marketed. These, apparently, could have a double side for our health, since the results obtained give rise to reflection.
According to the study carried out in mice, everything points to the fact that the molecules of the olive oil fish They concentrated on the skin. This accumulation of dermal macrophages gave rise, in turn, to the absorption of omega-3, and consequently to the generation of reactive oxygen species.
All this could be the origin of the activation of toxic cells that would lead to apoptosis or cell death. Although this could justify the hair loss, the researchers conclude that further research is necessary. If you want, you can even see the full article that was done..
