However, MU can turn things around quickly. Marcus Rashford leveled the score three minutes later, before Jules Kounde’s own goal put the Red Devils back ahead 2-1 in the 59th minute.
Shortly after, Manchester United actually had the opportunity to distance its lead over Barcelona. Rashford had an opportunity on the counterattack.
In the 64th minute, Marcus Rashford was able to receive the ball in front, and carried it forward alone. The MU striker was being chased by two Barcelona players, one of which was Jules Kounde.
When he just entered the penalty box, Jules Kounde then dropped Rashford. Referee Maurizio Mariani did not consider it a violation. Judging by the situation, Kounde could have been sent off because Rashford’s position was quite free, aka there was no barrier to scoring goals.

It can be seen that Rashford was really annoyed after he was brought down, especially since his situation was free and open to scoring goals. Plus, there was no punishment from the referee for the Barcelona defender.
Until finally, Barcelona could equalize the score in the 76th minute. Raphinha broke into MU’s goal, and forced the score to be 2-2.
These results make Barcelona and Manchester United still have a chance to qualify for the last 16 of the Europa League. Alternate second leg will be held at Old Trafford, Friday (24/2).
