South Park premieres a controversial episode where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are ridiculed | TV and show

In the last episode of the animated series broadcast by Comedy Central, the creators parodied the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their desire for privacy. Although Harry and Meghan are not directly named, in several scenes reference is made to their family controversies and public appearances in the media.

the animated series South Park premiered an episode where they parody, in a (not so) indirect way, the Prince Harry y Meghan Markle. Throughout the chapter, titled The Worldwide Privacy Tourtwo characters quite similar to the Dukes of Sussex are shown.

Although they are not named directly, in the cartoon they are referred to as “the princes of Canada”who “crossed the pond” in search of privacy.

The fact is a reference to the media estrangement of the couple with the British royal family, who left the United Kingdom in 2021 in a desperate search for privacy for themselves and their son, Archie.

After the death of the Queen of Canada -an allusion to the descent of Elizabeth II in September 2022- and earning the repudiation of the court, the royal couple, classified as “hypocrites”, decide to give an interview on the program Good Morning Canada where both appear carrying signs that say: “Stop looking at us” y “We want privacy!”.

According to Deadlinethe jokes in the cartoon focus on “the tension between Harry and Meghan’s desire for privacy and their willingness to share intimate details of their lives in interviews, the Prince Harry book and his Netflix series.”

It is worth remembering that in December 2022, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex recorded a multi-chapter documentary for Netflix, where they talked about their conflicts with the British royal family and the lack of privacy in their lives, a program that sparked a series of criticisms.

References to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in South Park

In one scene, the couple promotes the Canadian prince’s new book called Wowa version quite similar to the memories that the Duke of Sussex published a few months ago, entitled Spare (In the shadow). In the chapter it is also mentioned that his wife had the idea of writing said work.

“We just want to be normal people, all this attention is very difficult”were the comments made by the character inspired by Prince Harry, who also assured that he hates journalists.

In another sequence, the couple is shown going on a tour called “Worldwide Privacy Tour” (We want privacy) to reaffirm your message in different cities around the world.

After their tour is over, the fake Meghan and Harry take up residence in South Park, where they hang signs and ask their neighbors to give them privacy. “If we moved here, people would think that we really want to be normal”says the character parodying Markle.

The presence of the princes unleashes conflicts in the community. One of them is with Kyle, who complains that the couple park their private jet in front of his house and insist that he buy his book.
