In most studies, TDI-11861 was administered by injection. However, the active ingredient can also be given orally, as the researchers showed in further studies. A single oral application led to high levels of the active substance in the blood and in the epididymis, where mature sperm are temporarily stored, and in the seminal vesicles, which produce the fluid contained in the sperm. In the testes, on the other hand, no high concentrations were measured, the researchers emphasize. Oral administration also effectively restricted sperm function.
