After 3 dark days for the sick and their parents, the nursing staff normally resumed activities in the hospitals. A sigh of relief in the health structures of Bangui. On the faces of the patients as well as their parents, one can read the joy.
“Happy to have them back”
“We are happy to have them back. We would all be dead if this strike continued. We thank God that they have already returned to work to give us proper care,” rejoiced Armel Seka, a patient.
Fanny, a patient, says she is happy to have been able to consult her doctor at the Bangui Community Hospital.
“He took good care of me”
“I come to the hospital every five days for my bandages. Today I was able to meet my doctor and he took good care of me”, testified Fanny.

Faced with the harmful effects of the health workers’ strike, many patients are calling on the government to respond favorably to the various demands of the health workers’ union.

“We ask the government to pay attention to the complaints of its sons and daughters who are the doctors. If they go on strike, there is something wrong. Health is very important because without it , there is no life”, launched Yvette Zoana, a patient.
Within the hospitals, all the services have resumed work, following the example of the Bangui Pediatric Complex.

” I am on call and I have just taken the service. I have also just noticed the passage of my colleague in the morning. I saw his traces on the register with the consultation of more than 20 children. All the services are operational at the level of the Bangui pediatric complex”, welcomed Arnaud Rodrigue Gorohoule, doctor in the surgery department.
The strike organized by the independent union of nursing staff last week disrupted health services in hospitals. According to the members of the said union, the strike is temporarily suspended pending further talks with the Central African government on the initiative of the Mediator of the Republic. The President of the National Assembly, during a meeting on Monday, February 13, begged the nursing staff to definitively suspend the strike.
The nursing staff had ceased activities from February 8 to 10 in all hospitals and health facilities to express their dissatisfaction. Their union poses four (4) points of demands to the Central African government. He claims among other things: the special status of nursing staff, the general states of the Ministry of Health, the payment of Covid-19 bonuses for 2021 and 2022 and the massive integration of health graduates into the Public Service.
