The voice actor behind the English dub of Genshin Impact character Tighnari has been dropped by the game’s developer HoYoVerse. The developer has claimed that this is due to a breach of contract, but if you dig a little deeper, there are significant allegations of grooming and sexual abuse directed at the voice actor.
Just a day before these allegations were brought to light, voice actor Elliot Gindi said that he “took a break.” After the allegations were made, acknowledged Gindi and admitted some of them in a long apology.
In response to the allegations leveled at Gindi, Genshin Impact’s English voice director Chris Faiella said: “I appreciate everyone bringing the situation regarding Elliot to my attention. To say that I am angry, disappointed and devastated by the whole thing would be an understatement. My heart goes out to everyone who has been subjected to this unacceptable and inappropriate behavior I personally would like to fight for those who stood up and brought all this to light.
Currently, HoYoVerse is working on replacing the in-game voice lines for Tighnari, and will release more updates soon.
