MOSCOW, 16 February. /TASS/. Mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Jeff Monson is in the process of renouncing his American citizenship due to disagreement with US policy. Monson told TASS on Thursday.
“I am in the process of relinquishing my American citizenship,” Monson said. – In the spring, I will only have a Russian passport. I do not agree with the US policy, they interfere in the affairs of other countries, people suffer because of them. Yes, I have children in the US, but I love Russia, Russian people.”
“I like everything here, and I want only my Russian passport to remain,” the fighter added.
In 2018, Monson received a Russian passport, he was elected to the Council of Deputies of the Krasnogorsk city district.
Monson is 52 years old, he was born in the USA, he performed in this country in various leagues and disciplines, including several fights in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He has 61 wins, 27 losses and two draws.
