Berlin | Germany’s Federal Statistical Office reports that around 1.1 million refugees will arrive in Germany from Ukraine in 2022 following the war. Two-thirds of migrants from Ukraine arrived in the first three months after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the report said.
The data comes just days before the one-year anniversary of the Russian invasion that displaced millions of Ukrainians. Immigration from Ukraine to Germany is 962,000 in 2022. This is more than the 834,000 people who arrived from Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq between 2014 and 2016.
Ukrainian citizens have recently become the second largest foreign population in Germany.
