Artificial intelligence is the main threat to humanity, but it also has a lot of potential, said the entrepreneur, founder of the company “SpaceX” and owner of the social network Twitter, Elon Musk, quoted by TASS, while speaking via video link at the World Government Summit in Dubai.
“It has both positive and negative sides,” Musk said in response to a question about artificial intelligence. “The prospects for its application are huge, but it also represents a huge danger. Take nuclear energy for example. We have the production of nuclear energy and we have nuclear weapons,” added the entrepreneur.
“For that reason, I think we should be somewhat concerned about this. We need some regulation in this area,” Musk said.
The Twitter owner and SpaceX founder also believes that the mysterious unidentified objects shot down by the US military last week are not of extraterrestrial origin.
According to Elon Musk, aliens probably do not exist.
“I don’t think they’re aliens. With aliens in general, there’s this so-called Fermi paradox. If the universe really is as old as science says, then where are they? I mean, if the universe has been around for 13.8 billion years , shouldn’t there be aliens everywhere? I haven’t seen any evidence of alien technology or alien life. I’m the owner of SpaceX and I don’t think anyone knows more about space or at least space technology than me,” said he.
Musk added that the lack of alien life in the universe is “quite disturbing.” “This means that our civilization is a small candle in the endless darkness. Therefore, we must treat it very carefully so that it does not go out,” added the entrepreneur.
