Some people find it very difficult to quit fast food and unhealthy food, and they think that they are stuck in an “addiction” predicament, but a recent study revealed that taking a simple step can completely change the course of things.
The study, published in the “Food Quality and Preference” newspaper, showed that people act very lazily in the matter of food, so they tend to eat what is ready, while they are reluctant to eat what requires some effort, even if it is peeling a fruit or taking food out of the package.
The study involved more than 200 volunteers, between the ages of 16 and 66, in order to find out what foods they tend to eat.
Participants were presented with pictures of food, and asked to give a point from zero to one hundred for each meal, as much as they craved it.
The meals were divided into three categories: raw and uncooked, whole and cut foods, in addition to packaged and unpackaged foods.
The results showed that the participants saw that ready and unpacked foods were 15 percent more appetizing compared to foods that needed some effort, such as peeling and removing from the packaging.
According to the study, the participants gave 27/100 to foods that needed preparation and cooking, while they gave a score of 38/100 to ready-made food.
In light of this study, those who want to lose excess weight need to make healthy food available and ready around them, so that they can accept it when they feel hungry.
On the other hand, dieters should remove unhealthy meals around them, especially when they are ready, because the matter is largely psychological, and not just a supply to the body of what it needs in terms of food and energy.
