A vaccine against a deadly virus causes surfing amnesia

“Nazi surfers must die”, which has held the title of the most surreal film in the world of surfing since its publication in 1987, could soon lose that status in favor of “The Greatest Surf Movie in the Universe”. This is the title of a film that is being presented this week at the Berlinale, according to Deadline. This same medium specifies that among its protagonists will be Luke Hemsworth (Westworld) and the surfers Kelly Slater (11x world champion) and Mick Fanning (3x world champion and protagonist of the most famous shark attack in history).

In IMBD they specify that it is a adult comedy that also contains stop motion animation scenes and whose synopsis is literally the following:

“It’s been 10 years since a deadly virus has killed much of the world’s population. In a rush to save humanity, Doctor John Fig comes up with an experimental vaccine that becomes mandatory in all countries. It works, but it has a terrible side effect: the injection immediately removes the ability to surf and the memories related to surfing.

These are strange times, where the best surfers in the world stumble upon their new lives, oblivious to the talent they once possessed. Learning of the extinction of the sport, the god of surfing, Hughey, makes an effort to bring it back. He travels the world until, high on a mountaintop in Tibet, he meets the only man capable of resurrecting surfing, Mick Fanning. The Australian is tasked with recruiting a team of the best surfers in the world (Craig Anderson, Mason Ho, Griffin Colapinto, Jack Freestone, Matt Wilkinson, Kelly Slater…) and restoring the glory of surfing.

There is only one way to do it and that is… to make the best surf movie in the universe, with stop motion animation, realistic figures and voice-overs from the athletes themselves. A special effects comedy that blends the absurd with the sublime and whose director, Nick Pollet, combines his talent for filmmaking with his love of photography.”
