Gérard Collomb was re-elected mayor of Lyon in the first round of voting by 41 votes against 8 for Denis Broliquier, centrist mayor of the 2nd arrondissement. There were 10 blank votes and 13 abstentions.
This is the upset political calendar. In a few weeks, the history of Lyon precipitated. She first registered at the Elysée with the spectacular resignation of Gérard Collomb from the Ministry of the Interior, immediately followed by the resignation of Georges Képénékian, who succeeded him as mayor of Lyon in 2017. , Gérard Collomb must resume his seat as mayor. But the context has changed since his departure for Paris.
His return to business marks a new period. He is officially a candidate for the municipal elections of 2020. But he has already announced that he will not claim the label of the “Republic on the move” to achieve a large rally around his candidacy. Beginning of the great maneuvers around the Metropolis, where the mayor of Lyon no longer sits as a simple adviser.
So the election campaign is on. On the right, two men have already officially announced their ambitions. Etienne Blanc, first, official candidate of the Republicans, first vice-president of the Region and right arm of Laurent Wauquiez. He is running for mayor of Lyon. And then Pascal Blache, diverse-right mayor of the 6th arrondissement, who says he wants to go it alone on behalf of civil society. And who has not yet chosen between the town hall and the metropolis.
On the left, nothing definite yet. But the federation of the Socialist Party already rules out any rapprochement with Gérard Collomb. Just like the ecologists who also dismiss this perspective from the outset.
