The crane accident happened on September 11, 2015, when Hajj was about to begin. A crane for the development of the Haram Mosque in Makkah fell to the ground in heavy winds and rain. 108 people, including a Malayali pilgrim, died when the crane fell while the church was full of people. About two hundred and fifty people were injured. The contract for the construction of the harem was given to Bin Laden’s company. Therefore, a case was filed against the company and thirteen people including its officials. Both the lower court and the appellate court acquitted everyone, citing bad weather.
