Emirates News Agency – The Emirates Search and Rescue Team rescues two young men in Kahramanmaraş 9 days after the earthquake

Kahramanmaraş, on February 14, 2020, WAM/ Colonel Khaled Al Hammadi, Commander of the UAE Search and Rescue in Turkey, announced that the efforts of the UAE Search and Rescue Team, within Operation (The Gallant Knight / 2), in cooperation with the French Rescue Team, succeeded in rescuing two young men, aged 19 and 21, in Kahramanmaraş. years, after nine days had passed since they were under the rubble following the earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria on the sixth of February.
Colonel Al-Hammadi stated that the area is being surveyed by the police dog unit (k9) of the Belarusian team, followed by another survey of the area by the Emirati team (k9) to ensure that the area is free of survivors under the rubble, indicating that there is still a suspicion that there are survivors.

Colonel Al-Hammadi stated that the efforts of the search and rescue teams contributed to saving many lives during the past days.

The team is keen to apply the highest standards of security and safety during the process of recovering the survivors, and the rubble of buildings is dealt with with high professionalism. The team works in shifts throughout the day, in the morning and evening shifts, in order to cover the largest number of demolished houses that have chances to find survivors under the ruins.
