The test involved a hybrid Nissan X-Trail e-Power. Most likely, it was the increased weight due to the power plant that did not allow the crossover to cope with the “moose” test.
During the “moose test” the appearance of an unpredictable obstacle on the road is simulated. The task of the test car is to avoid a collision at maximum speed.
A speed of at least 77 km/h is required to successfully pass the test. The experts managed to cope with the “moose” test only at a speed of 74 km/h. Already at 75 km / h, the crossover touched the cones.
Experts admitted that although the speed was insufficient, the crossover is still well controlled. They also emphasized the stable operation of security systems.
The Nissan X-Trail completed the slalom test in 25.5 seconds. By comparison, the luxury SUV Land Rover Range Rover Sport and the compact crossover Toyota Aygo X Cross Play completed the obstacle course in 26.1 seconds.
The Nissan X-Trail e-Power is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine and an electric motor with a total output of 204 hp. c. The test crossover was equipped with a set of winter tires. According to experts, summer tires can perform much better.
