A 3:0 run by Steißlingen followed, driven by a very strong playing Steffen Maier, who kept finding gaps in the opposing defence.
However, Freiburg did not let this deter them and made up for it goal by goal before they were able to pull away with a 6:0 run (6:9). However, the struggling hosts tried to keep up.
