Other electronic devices such as epilators, hair straighteners, curling irons, hair dryers, e-toothbrushes and i-robots are also being bought this year as part of Valentine’s Day.
“Since December of last year, we have observed a trend that buyers choose more expensive and better quality gifts, such as phones or smart watches, and this trend continues this year as well. Sales of such gifts both before Christmas and this year before Valentine’s Day have grown significantly,” 220.lv Marketplace the sales manager says Kārlis Ozols.
K. Ozols points out that another trend observed this year is that buyers choose more expensive models of electronic goods, the most popular of which are “Apple”, “Samsung” and “Xiaomi”.
This year, some buyers have also bought the traditional goods typical of the holiday, such as perfumes, cosmetics, candles. Sales of these items increased by approximately 100% in the week leading up to Valentine’s Day compared to the same period last year.
“In the cosmetics category, the most popular purchases this year were face masks and various serums. Before Valentine’s Day, manicure and pedicure products were also bought more actively,” says K. Ozols.
In the gift category, last year’s popular hit has remained – non-fading or stabilized roses, which are popular due to their durability. “Sales data show that buyers will also please their loved ones with candles, balloons and mugs printed with different expressions. This year’s most popular novelty is the erasable map, which is most often chosen as an interior item, marking or erasing countries that have already been visited,” says K .Oak.
In the category of men’s goods, in the week before Valentine’s Day, 220.lv recorded the highest sales volumes in the categories of watches, wallets, cosmetics and underwear.
