In the midst of an uproar of reports spy balloon China in the United States, government China is now making a similar statement. Beijing says Washington has flown balloons over Chinese airspace more than 10 times since January 2022.
Reported by the news agency AFP, Monday (13/2/2022), this was announced after a Chinese drone which the US called a spy balloon, was shot down over the area United States of America.
A number of other such devices have been shot down in the United States and Canada, although Beijing has only acknowledged that the first device was its own.
On Monday, China accused the US of sending more than 10 balloons into its airspace since January 2022.
“It is also not uncommon for the US to illegally enter other countries’ airspace,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin told a briefing.
“Since last year alone, US balloons have flown illegally over Chinese territory more than 10 times without approval from Chinese authorities,” he added.
When asked how China had responded to the alleged intrusion of the US balloons, Wang said “Beijing’s handling of this incident is responsible and professional”.
“If you want to know more about US high-altitude balloons illegally entering Chinese airspace, I suggest you refer to the US side,” he added.
