There has been a serious traffic accident on the E10 in Sør-Troms. The road is closed on the spot, writes Vegtrafikksentralen.
The accident must have happened in the middle of Gausvik, a village in Harstad municipality, a few kilometers south of the Tjeldsund Bridge.
It must be a lorry with a trailer that has collided with a passenger car. The cause of the accident is not known.
– There are bad driving conditions at the site. The wagon train has been hit, says operations manager Karl Erik Thomassen to NRK.
– It is the routing of smaller vehicles on footpaths and cycleways. Heavier vehicles are not allowed to pass.
There has been strong wind and a lot of rain in several places in Northern Norway in the last 24 hours. In Å in Lofoten, a sea stall with tourists blew into the sea on Sunday evening.
Woman hit by vehicle
On the E6 in Kåfjord further north in Troms, a woman was hit on Monday morning, the police report. The road is also closed there.
According to what the police know, she was out of the vehicle when she was hit by another vehicle.
The person has been sent to the emergency department by ambulance. An air ambulance will also be on the way to the scene.
No more than one injured person has been reported, says operations manager Thomassen.
The E6 will be closed on the spot until the car is recovered, the police write. There will be a lot of queues at the site.
