Apple regularly files patents, but that doesn’t mean that all of the products mentioned in those patents will ever be developed. The patents show that Apple is considering different technologies to improve its devices. The camera sensor would be under the Apple Watch
The patent granted by the US Patent and Trademark Office explains that the bracelet would be equipped with a detachable portion. This would allow remove the frame of the Apple Watch without having to detach the bracelet of the wrist. The camera would be under the Apple Watch. Therefore, the connected watch should be detached from the bracelet in order to take photos and videos.
The Apple Watch which has patent issues in the USA cannot currently be removed with the strap on the wrist. The new watch envisaged by the Apple brand would therefore introduce a new type of bracelet. The Patently Apple site which discovered the patent explains that “ the attachment mechanism could provide a more rapid, ergonomic and convenient release of the watch or watch components from a wearer’s wrist, without the need to operate a clasp, buckle or closure mechanism which can be relatively more cumbersome to use ».
Again, this patent does not mean that Apple will take out an apple watch with camera. For example, a patent published at the end of 2021 detailed an optical sensor to replace the digital crown. However, the Apple Watch Series 8 which detects ovulation and car accidents is still equipped with its digital crown.
