Nurul Izzah Anwarwho is the daughter of the Prime Minister (PM) Malaysia Anwar Ibrahimresigned from his position as senior economic and financial adviser to Malaysian PM. The position was only held by Nurul Izzah for six weeks.
As reported The Star, Monday (13/2/2023), the resignation was announced by Nurul Izzah in his latest statement. Henceforth, Nurul Izzah will serve as one of the heads of the secretariat which will support the Malaysian Ministry of Finance advisory panel.
“Chairman of the Advisory Commission to the Minister of Finance (Minister of Finance) Tan Sri Mohd Hassan Marican along with other honorable members, have invited me to become the head (co-head) of the secretariat to support their work for the country,” said Nurul Izzah in a statement.
“This is an invitation that I humbly accept,” he added.
Nurul Izzah said she hoped to be able to help Malaysia’s Minister of Finance Mohd Hassan and other members of the advisory commission in serving the country.
Prior to announcing his new position, Nurul Izzah’s appointment on January 3 as a senior adviser to the Malaysian PM, or his own father, drew criticism that this was nepotism.
In her latest statement, Nurul Izzah, who is a former member of the Pematang Pauh parliament, said she was grateful for the support she received, both from the community and civil servants and the government at large.
