The women’s team of Ukraine will not play on Eurobasket-2023. The Blue-Yellows failed to get into the top 4 of the best second teams.
The blue-and-yellow team defeated Lithuania (71:65) in the EuroBasket 2023 qualifier, finishing second in the group. This made it possible to count on getting into the European Championship as one of the best teams that took second place.
Unfortunately, the situation in other groups has developed in such a way that Ukraine did not qualify for the European Championship and will miss the second continental championship in a row.
Due to the disqualification of Russia and Belarus, only the winners of the groups qualify for the European Championship, and the second places did not qualify for the European Championship. Also, Israel and Slovenia, as the hosts of the European Championship, have already qualified there, and if they go to the EuroBasket on a sporting basis, then according to the rules, this allowed the next team in the ranking to get a ticket.
Teams from 7 groups applied for 4 tickets to the European Championship. At the same time, the results of matches with the last teams of the group were not taken into account.
Thus, the Ukrainian team failed to get into the top 4 best second teams.
