“We are responding to Turkey’s call for international assistance with the French state. Within this plane, you have a large-capacity field hospital”, assures Damien Denisot, spokesperson for CMA-CGM (shipping company – general shipping company), which organizes the shipment. On board, therefore, nearly 45 tonnes of humanitarian equipment, enough to provide a large-capacity field hospital of the EMT2 type (WHO certification) capable of providing surgical care. The hospital will have a surface area of 1,000 m², 2 operating theaters, with a capacity to receive 100 patients per day.
France has also mobilized 87 people for the deployment: 45 rescuers and 42 firefighters and marine firefighters including surgeons, doctors, anesthesiologists, nurses, midwives, pharmacists… All will be responsible for maintaining and operate this field hospital with the help of the Turks.
Among the equipment transported, there are tents, tent structures, oxygen boxes, generators, air heaters, food, beds, blankets, biomedical equipment, medicines, or equipment kitchen and bathroom.
