People’s Artist of Russia Maya Menglet shared her memories of working with Tikhonov. Vyacheslav Vasilyevich devoted himself completely to work despite any difficulties. He was in the frame in the cold, wind and slush. “He carried me with a broken leg about 20 times in his arms. He himself howled for mercy. It was terribly cold, I’m still in this sable coat. I was then rather big, weighed 59 kilograms, ”said the actress.
The late artist could get used to any role, even one that was clearly not peculiar to him. “They didn’t do anything with him: they smeared him with peroxide, made a forelock, shaved off his eyebrows, his hair with peroxide, so that he looked as if he had been in the scorching sun all day. His protruding ear… He was absolutely his own guy, and when someone from a neighboring village came, he said: “Listen, what is it with you, they took a new tractor driver?”. But it turned out that this is not a new tractor driver, but an actor, ”recalled Maya Georgievna.

The cause of early death was addiction to alcohol and illegal substances.
Later, the artist fell in love with the Riga actress Dzidra Ritenberg. According to rumors, the couple met for four years, but they never reached the registry office. Soon, Dzidra preferred Tikhonov to his colleague Yevgeny Yevgeny Urbansky, whom she married and built a family.
