Autonomous company Hertz has received half of the ordered Tesla cars

Autonomous company Hertz has announced that the company has received half of the ordered Tesla cars for its fleet. As you know, Hertz and Tesla agreed on an ambitious deal at the end of 2021, with Hertz buying 100,000 Model 3s, but the deal was later expanded to include the Model Y as well.

When concluding the agreement, Hertz announced that it was planned to receive all 100,000 cars by the end of 2022, but Tesla was not really excited about such announcements and did not promise that it would actually happen.

Hertz’s annual report for 2022 indicates that at the end of the year, the company owned 48,344 Tesla cars. In total, the Hertz fleet in North America is 428,700 cars, 11% of which are Teslas. Interestingly, Hertz recently announced that nearly 50,000 Uber drivers have taken advantage of the opportunity to rent a Tesla from Hertz. This is foreseen by the agreement concluded by Uber/Hertz. The question arises, how many cars are actually owned by Hertz, how many of them are rented to Uber and how many are available to every customer.
