IT’S EASY TO SAY BEST-SELLER – Fifty thousand copies. Did you know that, in Italy, this is the fateful threshold beyond which a book becomes a best-seller? Unlike publishing, the world of engines has never given itself a “rule” or convention on the subject. Having said this premise, for obvious economic reasons it is clear that the major ones Sales volumes they are generated by so-called “generalist” manufacturers. That is to say those car manufacturers which, historically, have managed to forcefully penetrate larger markets by virtue of a product offer with prices within the reach of many.
IT IS NOT ENOUGH THAT IT IS “LOW COST” – A favorable starting price, however, is neither a necessary nor a sufficient condition for a car to be able to achieve large numbers in dealerships. To persuade millions of motoristsperhaps from one end of the world to the other, thus becoming one overall bestseller, a car needs a whole series of other qualities (often more important than the simple purchase cost). Building quality is essential for a car to obtain a good reputation and thus be pushed by that magical force called word of mouth. Also very important is its ability to satisfy a range of user needs that is as wide as possible; as well as that of being able to effectively communicate the “spirit” and values of the company that built it.
