“Until I was 30 I said I was against all drugs. Especially cocaine. That’s just an antisocial, unsociable ego drug,” recalls Hoffman, 42.
But when her relationship with Van Loon ended at the end of 2017, Hoffman wanted to “reinvent” herself and she still tacked. “I took ecstasy at a festival with friends. I thought it was magical, like magic mushrooms and LSD,” she says.
Hoffman says that since then she has a very different view of drug use. “It’s such a shame that we think coffee, alcohol and sugar are normal, while we are so hysterical about those other substances. If more people used psychedelics, there would be less war.”
