The popular actress is in one round. We caught up with Veronika Žilková just as she was waiting with her pug Coffie at the vet on Friday. In addition, he jumps from one theater performance to another.
Why did you go into veterinary medicine?
We have three one-month-old pug puppies and I’m going to check up on the bitch because she had a bit of a complicated birth. It’s similar to when mothers in labor go to the doctor for a check-up when they’re in labor. The puppies were born prematurely while I was on vacation. And I had no idea that my mom would die. Daughter Kordula managed the birth of the puppies flawlessly, she deserves praise.

Nothing bothers me. I work from morning to evening and spend time with dogs in my free time.

On Thursday, I played the Window of my Love in Stochov. I will play it twice on Saturday at the Broadway Theatre. I’m also trying a wonderful game with Vladimír Morávek. It was written by Lukáš Pavlásek and is called Já dictator.
What will it be about?
It will be a comedy revue, it will be a kind of analogy of the current political situation. But we are trying it a little in the style of the Liberated Theater, when Voskovec and Werich made a West Pocket Revue in a similar spirit before the Second World War about the political events in the world at that time. When you’re scared, it’s best to start laughing. We hope that this comedy will be very well received by the audience. Milan Peroutka and Tomáš Matonoha will also play in it.
What will your role be?
There will be several of them. I will embody all of the dictator’s femme fatales from his teacher to his mother to his secretary to his prostitute. But these are all dreams, the comedy will be about them.
Why a prostitute?
They are the dreams of a dictator. When someone becomes an unlimited ruler, it often means that they have a suppressed masculinity or are decadent in some way. The whole game will be about the futility of war.
Can we find any analogy there with Russian President Vladimir Putin?
Of course, the game was even created because of him, because the whole world trembles before him. Similar to before, for example, before Hitler. The play is staged to make a mockery of all dictators. We will have the premiere on April 19, the same day as in 1927 Voskovec and Werich presented their West Pocket Revue. But the same term is a coincidence.
