After an hour of interruptions at the meeting of the National Congress of the BSP by representatives of the internal opposition with demands for resignation, the leader Kornelia Ninova began to read a political report adopted by the leadership. The 50th Congress is being held at the NDK today.
“Despite the start of today’s congress, it is extremely important because we will talk about a concept for a new modern leftist program and ideology, and we are the only party that discusses these issues and steps on ideological roots,” she pointed out.
Ninova wants activity in the discussion and to talk essentially about the path of the BSP.
The meeting is taking place against the backdrop of crises that can be overcome with bold decisions and responsibility, said Kornelia Ninova and listed the world’s problems.
Whose interests do we protect, we condemned the aggression in Ukraine, we opened our hospitality to the refugees. We will appeal for neutrality for Bulgaria, not to give arms, to stop hostilities and to negotiate for peace. The BSP is against the sanctions against Russia, Europe has suffered the most from them, Ninova commented. Energy, impoverishment, inflation, the BSP leader also listed. She also mentioned the closure of coal plants and spoke out against them, as we have met EU requirements. The left is for the development of nuclear energy and NPP, Ninova also pointed out.

Cyril Dobrev appeared semi-legally
Nuclear sanctions against Russia will doom Bulgaria’s economic life, she thinks.
Discrediting the BSP – do not succumb to the false propaganda, urged Ninova. She is adamant that the BSP is ideological and has not yet “heard what the new left is”. Kornelia Ninova listed the party’s actions to combat social inequalities, and admitted its mistakes.
In conclusion, Cornelia Ninova requested that it be known that the BSP is a European party, even though there are “processes going on” in the EU. Bulgarian socialists have a problem with PES and the modern left, the third gender and the Istanbul Convention, she emphasized.
During the BSP leader’s speech, there were two attempts to break into hall 3 of the National Palace of Culture. Over 200 delegates from the opposition have gathered in front of the doors and are shouting “Resignation”. In front of the doors are Pepi Vitanov, Sergey Stanishev, Svetlana Sharenkova and others.
The BSP Congress began with a scandal and a demand for Ninova’s resignation
As long as we refuse to bear the blame, the leader bears the responsibility, pointed out Petar Vitanov
Ninova did not fail to mention the disputes with Rumen Radev. “We don’t have fights with President Rumen Radev and Iliana Yotova and the Cabinet, but do you want us to give huge sums for the F-16, instead of giving them to young people and pensioners and giving huge sums for funds to the citizens of Bordeaux,” she asked.
“Let’s put our house in order first. We can’t go on like this any longer, remove the causes and seek unity around ideas, not around causes. Internal battles are destroying us. We had three problems in the party: the direct election of members, the mandates for deputies, the tenure of the chairman. Money and interests, we freed the party from oligarchs, she gave as an example.
I am an obstacle and inconvenient at the post, Ninova was categorical. As long as I am the chairman of the BSP, I will not give in to the pressure from the EU for the Istanbul Convention, the leader hinted. She announced that a request for a referendum on the subject had been received by the National Assembly of the BSP.
BSP also believes that Bulgaria is not ready for the introduction of the euro from January 2024. “Postponement until our economy is ready”, Ninova wants and gave freedom to BSP members to participate in a referendum on the subject.
We must increase our result and participate in the elections as a party that will be the social pillar, said Cornelia Ninova. She denied that BSP will participate in any coalition with GERB, it will not join forces for positions. After the elections, the results of the parties should be seen, and then the socialists should hold an internal party decision of the members for future coalitions, suggested to the delegates Cornelia Ninova.
A new program for the party’s work was also presented to the National Assembly of the BSP today.
