Last August we informed you about the establishment of the new Ballistic Moon studio in the UK. Supermassive Games creative director Neil McEwan is behind it, and while we don’t know what direction the first title will take, we already know the working title – Project Bates – and there has also been speculation about Sony’s involvement as a publisher. The game is to be aimed at the PlayStation 5, and it would therefore be logical if the Japanese company wanted to have the upcoming AAA project under supervision. But as it now appears, there is a possibility that Sony bought the Ballistic Moon studio, or was directly involved in its creation.
For this eventuality pointed out PlayStation Lifestyle magazine, who apparently noticed ordinary advertisement by PlayStation Studios. Sony’s family of development studios is looking for a Dialogue Designer to work in London with other partners and internal studios on major AAA projects. And it is in this part, where the advertisement lists teams such as Naughty Dog, Sony Santa Monica or perhaps Guerrilla Games, that the name of the Ballistic Moon studio appears. So we can safely imagine that there was an error in synchronizing publicly communicated information with information for the human resources department and revealing the actual inclusion of the new studio.
The ad has already been edited, but PlayStation Lifestyle editors say they have a screenshot, although they didn’t attach it to their original report. The question is, of course, whether the entire establishment of the studio last year was not directly directed by Sony, but that is probably something that the Japanese company will communicate only later. Current indications are when this could happen speculation by journalist Jeff Grubb. He talked about a smaller one in his program presentation in March, probably also in connection with PS VR2, where the matter surrounding Ballistic Moon could easily be clarified.
