Filmmaker Hugh Hudson dies – News

Hudson died in a hospital in London after a short illness. He is survived by his wife Maryam, son Thomas and first wife Sue, the family said in a statement.

The director shot TV commercials in the late 1960s and 1970s. Subsequently, he focused on documentary work, which resulted, among other things, in a biographical film about the Argentine Formula 1 driver Juan Manuel Fangio, and on feature films.

Chariots of Fire, a film about British runners competing in the 1924 Olympic Games, won over audiences and critics, winning numerous awards in addition to the Oscars. His other famous films included 1984’s Tarzan starring Christopher Lambert.
