Penn, who plays Joe Goldberg in the series, notices that there are considerably more sex scenes in the third season than in the previous seasons. For example, we see how Joe and his wife Love have a quartet. Penn and Victoria, who plays Love, have already admitted that the sex scenes are not easy to film. This is partly due to the fact that the corona pandemic is still in full swing at that time.
“It felt really strange to be very physically intimate right from the start, even though we had to play a married couple,” says Victoria. At the time, the corona virus caused the necessary adjustments on the set. “That was all very clear to feel,” Penn agrees. After the first five episodes of season 4 are on Netflix, Penn approaches the producers asking if he can have fewer sex scenes in the next season.
Penn reveals that he had actually planned to reduce the number of sex scenes in his career even before joining You. “I thought at the time, do I want to go back to such a path in which I constantly play in romantic films and series?” According to Penn, his marriage to Domina also plays an important role in this. “Being faithful in my relationship is extremely important to me. I just don’t feel like doing that kind of thing anymore.”
Fortunately for Penn, the show’s creator, Sera Gamble, agrees to his request. “She was just happy that I was so honest. She responded very positively and has significantly reduced the number of sex scenes afterwards.”
